Team Child of Mine - BMO Vancouver Marathon Fundraiser

Team Child of Mine- BMO Vancouver Marathon Fundraiser (walk/run 8km, half, or full)

On May 5th, 2019 a team of runners and walkers will be participating the BMO Vancouver Marathon (8km, half, or full) in partnership with Child of Mine. Their purpose as a team is to raise money for a new boys dorm at one of the children’s homes in Northern India! Currently, the boys are living in the original 100 year old buildings that were on the property when the home was established in 1989 and providing them with a new dorm has been a dream the staff and children have held for many years.

You are invited to embark on this journey alongside Team Child of Mine and run, walk or donate to help create a new and much needed living space for these boys. By signing up, you will be provided with a training plan, a training group (for those in Kelowna) and encouragement along the way. If you are not in the Kelowna area but would like to participate, we would love you to join us too! Simply get in touch with the team coordinator, Al (details below) and he will help you connect.

A Canada Helps fundraising campaign has been started with a team goal this year of $30,000. Last year $25,000 was raised through the generosity of partners like you! Thank you!

Please consider financially supporting our team again this year as they put their best foot forward and run or walk to help this long awaited dream of a new boys dorm become a reality!

2019 Fall India Trip
Sep

to Oct 20

2019 Fall India Trip

This fall, our construction team will have the tremendous privilege of visiting both of the COM children’s homes. These homes are located in Northern India. One, on the doorstep of the great Himalayan mountain range and the other set deeper into the mountains where the jagged peaks begin to tower!

While on this 3 week trip you will have the opportunity to work hard on designated construction projects during the day, and in the evening you will be able to spend time with the wonderful staff and children who call these homes, home.

Although we do need skilled trades to join our team, it is definitely not a requirement for all. The greatest attributes we look for are a servants heart and a willingness to serve with joy wherever you are needed most.

Projects:

The first and main project this year will be complete in the first 2 weeks of the trip at the more Northern Home. This project will include building additional space for staff to live by adding a third floor to the parking garage.

The final week will be spent at the home where the new boys dorm is currently being constructed. This week will be filled with some more minor projects that need to be done around the home.

Dates:

September 28 - October 20  (subject to flight availability)

Cost:

$4000 + additional project fundraising

Applications due:

May 01, 2019

If you have any questions or would like more details, please feel free to contact Nathania Sharp at info@childofmine.ca
